New streaming product on show at RadioAsia 2010
26 Feb 2010
Streamtheworld is an international company providing solutions for radio and tv businesses to stream their content. Daniel Karlsson, Vice President of Sales based in Switzerland, was at this week’s RadioAsia conference showcasing his Streamtheworld products to radio broadcasters wanting to improve their online and multi-platform delivery.
The company appears to understand the radio business, and Karlsson was able to talk the same language as radio people, explaining the benefits of his products in terms of TSL, cume and reach.
Streamtheworld builds a custom media player for each station, to enhance the user experience and integrate the look of the online or mobile phone page to the radio station’s branding. It links to social media, embeds chatrooms, builds playlists and facilitates voting in the one engine. This is where the company seems different from other streaming services available like Shoutcast, Icecast and others. Those services convert and host your station’s audio stream, but stations still need to do the work embedding that stream back into their web pages or mobile platforms. Streamtheworld does it all.
The other benefit that Streamtheworld seems to offer better than most, is its ability to ingest an audio stream then handle the conversion to multiple output platforms, overcoming the problems faced by some stations whose stream can’t be heard on Macs if it is in the WMA format and so on.
Advertising, viral marketing, and e-commerce tools are integrated into the skin by the company when it builds the interface in collaboration with the radio station. Hosting is distributed to large servers in many countries to provide scalability, redundancy and robustness.
The analytical tools built into the service give broadcasters lots of ways to slice and dice information so that they learn about the listening habits of their audience.
