Broadcast industry veteran Kevin Shea joins StreamTheWorld board
Montreal, Canada, September 23, 2008—StreamTheWorld, a media streaming technology and services company that provides video and audio content solutions to clients worldwide, has appointed Kevin Shea to its board of directors, effective September 23, 2008. He will also serve as chairman of the board of the rapidly growing company, which was founded in 2005.
Yves Eric Laliberté, President and CEO, announced the appointment, adding that “Kevin Shea is an experienced business leader, well-known and respected in the communications and broadcasting industries. With his outstanding track record he will be a great asset to StreamTheWorld, and we are pleased to welcome him to the board.”
Kevin Shea brings over 30 years’ experience in the entertainment, broadcasting, cable, culture, and telecommunications industries to StreamTheWorld. He is currently the owner and president of SheaChez Inc., a consulting firm whose clients include the CBC, Telus Communications, and Cokie Jar Entertainment. As former president and CEO of Sirius Satellite Radio and YTV Canada, he led each company through the CRTC licensing and start-up processes. Mr. Shea has also served as president and COO of the Global Television Network, executive vice president of Bell Globemedia Inc., and president and CEO of Atlantis Communications Inc. Prior to 1993, he held senior management positions with a diverse group of broadcast and entertainment companies, including Rogers Cablesystems Inc. and the Cable Satellite Network Inc.
Mr. Shea’s commitment to broadcasting is reflected in his extensive involvement with numerous industry associations, including the Canadian Film Centre, Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television, Canadian Cable Television Association, and others. He has chaired the post-SARS Toronto Tourism Recovery Alliance, the Canadian Association of Broadcasters TV Board, and the Canadian Film Centre, and currently serves as a director of Intertainment.com, Adcentricity, the Telus Television Advisory Board, and the Marketing Board of the National Capital Commission.
Kevin Shea was born in Montreal, raised in Toronto and Los Angeles, and graduated from the University of Western Ontario and York University.
