StreamTheWorld selected to stream Grupo Multimedios live TV
A value-added live streaming solution for the broadcaster’s 24-hour news channel, Milenio.
Montreal, Canada, January 21 2009—Grupo Multimedios, Northern Mexico’s largest media conglomerate, has selected StreamTheWorld, to stream its live and on-demand TV content.
Prior to working with StreamTheWorld, Multimedios handled streaming in-house, a time-consuming task that was costly and not always efficient. Preferring to concentrate its energy on content, the conglomerate sought experts able to accommodate all its streaming needs and assist in generating new online revenues.
Multimedios recognized that StreamTheWorld would be a value-added partner “rather than another pure CDN vendor,” according to Abarca Gil, Multimedios online director. “StreamTheWorld has a reliable and scalable network that’s rock solid throughout Mexico. We also appreciated the fact that it is a complete streaming solution that takes care of everything—from the user experience, advertising, media management, media delivery, and metrics to integrating our video automation software.”
The Montreal company’s flexibility was also seen as proof that it could deliver what Multimedios needed, said Sergio M. Riojas, Multimedios Chief Technology Officer. “They adapted their technology to ours, not the other way around.”
Multimedios is extremely satisfied by the initial results of its StreamTheWorld relationship, according to Riojas. “We started streaming two TV stations—in Monterrey and Torreon—in April 2008,” he said, “and recently launched Milenio, a 24-hour news transmission that is Mexico’s first live online news channel. We are very pleased with the results.”
