Preview of the 24th annual Gémeaux Awards have been aired on telequebec.tv

Montreal, September 17, 2009–The Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television in Quebec announced that the 24th Annual Gémeaux Awards preview will be aired on http://www.telequebec.tv rather than on Canoe.ca as had been announced earlier this week.

The Academy is committed to honoring the shows and original series produced for new media and thanks Télé-Québec for hosting the preview to the 24th Gémeaux Annual Awards on its site. This was made possible by the collaboration of Raid Production and StreamTheWorld, among others. According to StreamTheWorld senior vice president Neil Sweeney, “StreamTheWorld is proud to join with the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television and Télé-Québec in streaming the Gémeaux Awards preview. As a leader in multimedia streaming for broadcasters, we provide excellent broadcast quality to our Web audience.” Martin Roy, Télé-Québec’s executive director of programming and new media, is delighted to air the preview, as the Gémeaux Awards recognize outstanding artists. “A network such as ours is pleased to reward talent, innovation, and excellence in television.”

The 24th Annual Gémeaux Awards preview will be held on Sunday, September 20 at 3:00 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Montreal.

Patricia Paquin will host the awards ceremony, with design and writing assistance from Mathieu Gratton. No fewer that forty-three awards will be given out in the following categories: producer, director, author, supporting actor, host, website, and original show for new media. The Jean-Besré Award as well as the first ever Diversity Award will also be presented.

The 24th Annual Gémeaux Awards preview is presented with the support of Quebecor Fund, Ministère de la Culture, des Communications et de la Condition féminine, Ministère de l’Immigration et des Communautés culturelles du Québec, the Bell Broadcast and New Media Fund, Telefilm Canada, the Canadian Television Fund, and Société de développement des entreprises culturelles (SODEC).

The Academy would like to thank all its partners, without whom the 24th edition of the Gémeaux Awards would not be possible: Société Radio-Canada, Desjardins Group, Grey Goose, La Presse, Telefilm Canada, the Canadian Television Fund, Société de développement des entreprises culturelles du Québec, Télé-Québec, Astral Media, Ministère de la Culture, des Communications et de la Condition féminine du Québec, the Independent Production Fund, the Quebecor Fund, KPMG, Société des alcools du Québec, Video MTL, Association québécoise des techniciens de l'image et du son, Globalex, Ministère de l'Immigration et des Communauté culturelles du Québec, the Rogers Documentary Fund, Ross-Ellis, A&E, ARTV, the Bell Broadcast and New Media Fund, the Cogeco Program Development Fund, the National Film Board of Canada, StreamTheWorld, Solotech, and UQAM.
