November 5, 2009 – Toronto, Canada. StreamTheWorld, the leader in live streaming technology and services for broadcasters, is proud to announce that it is a finalist in the 2009 Canadian New Media Awards (CNMA), Best Mobile Application category. The award recognizes any application that delivers services to a mobile phone. The application demonstrates exceptional functionality, innovation, audience reach and frequency, and shows excellence in the use of the mobile medium.
“This honour is welcome industry recognition of StreamTheWorld’s commitment to providing its broadcaster clients with innovative user experiences to its audiences,” says Neil Sweeney, Executive Vice President, Global Markets, StreamTheWorld.
StreamTheWorld was selected for its iPhone application designed for Corus Entertainment. The application delivers all 52 Corus radio stations to its listeners anytime, anywhere. Corus is the first Canadian radio broadcaster to feature a native iPhone streaming application.
“This easy-to-use application is fully compatible with iPhone and iPod touch,” says Sweeney, “Listeners can search Corus stations either by call letters or by city. Also, the “Shake to Shuffle” feature allows the user to be offered a random Corus radio station. The application leverages our Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) codec to enhance the listening experience at the lowest data consumption.”
