Corus Québec joins forces with StreamTheWorld for live streaming video broadcast of events
Montreal, December 11, 2009 —Corus Québec has once again taken the lead by offering its radio listeners live events on video. This new initiative, in partnership with StreamTheWorld, makes it possible to offer more variety to Corus listeners, who can now choose where and how they prefer to experience radio events.
“Live video broadcasting of radio events fits right in with the revolution currently taking place in the world of media. It all proves once again that we at Corus Québec continue to take the lead in getting listeners what they want,” declared Mario Cecchini, Vice President of Corus Québec.
Already numerous programs and special events have been broadcast live, such as three Montreal Impact games, the two most recent editions of the Corus Québec radiothon, and several CKOI concerts, including performances by Arianne Mofat, Kévin Parent, and Mes Aïeux. Public affairs have not been left out of the picture either, with the Montreal mayoral candidates debate being shown on video.
“It looks like our listeners were right with us and appreciated our initiative, given the average viewing time of 39 minutes streaming minutes, which is excellent,” noted Samuel Parent, Internet Manager. “Not only have we added value to our content, but thanks to StreamTheWorld, we’ve been able to do it easily, quickly, and in high quality.”
“With live video broadcast of events, Corus Québec has once again shown itself to be a real cutting edge broadcaster,” added Yves Eric Laliberté, CEO of StreamTheWorld. “We’re really proud to be associated with radio that’s always a step ahead of its listeners’ expectations.”
This is not the first time StreamTheWorld and Corus Québec have worked together. Thanks to this partnership, Corus was the first Quebec radio broadcaster to webcast in Dolby and to make its radio stations available using an iPhone application.
